Gingerbread People
Preparation Time: 50 minutes
Cook Time: 8-10 minutes
Serves: Approx. 20
Ingredients:
- 2 ¾ cups of Waltanna Foods Gluten Free Plain Flour
- ¾ cup of brown sugar
- ¾ Tsp baking soda
- 1 Tbs ground cinnamon
- 1 Tbs ground ginger
- ½ Tsp cloves
- ½ Tsp salt
- 12 Tbs butter (170g) (chopped at room temperature)
- ½ cup molasses
- ¼ Tsp golden syrup
- 1 Tbs fresh grated ginger
- 2 Tbs milk
Method:
- Whisk together the dry ingredients together.
- Add the fresh grated ginger to the butter.
- Use fingers/pastry cutter to mix the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles a meal.
- Place into a mixing bowl on low speed and slowly add the molasses, golden syrup and milk until well combined.
- Divide the dough into 2, forming each into a ball.
- Wrap in plastic and refrigerate for 2 hours or overnight (refrigeration is mandatory, otherwise the dough will be too sticky).
- Preheat the oven to 175°C fan forced/185°C conventional.
- Lightly flour the top of the dough, the surface and the rolling pin
- Roll out the dough and cut shapes.
- Place onto tray lined with baking paper.
- Bake in the oven for 8-10 minutes.
