Chocolate Cake
Preparation Time: 20 minutes
Cook Time: 45-60 minutes
Serves: 8
Ingredients:
- 1 ½ cup Waltanna Foods Gluten Free Plain Flour
- ¾ cup cocoa powder
- 1 ½ tsp baking powder
- 1 ½ tsp baking soda
- 2 ½ cups white sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 eggs
- 1 ¼ cup oat milk
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
Method:
- Preheat oven to 180°C (Conventional)/ 160°C (Fan).
- Grease 2 cake pans with butter, then line the base with baking paper.
- Sift Waltanna Foods Gluten Free Plain Flour, cocoa, baking powder and baking soda into a large bowl. Add sugar and salt and whisk to combine.
- Whisk eggs, oil, milk and vanilla. Whisk into dry ingredients until lump free.
- Add boiling water and whisk to incorporate. The batter is very thin.
- Leave to stand for 5 minutes.
- Whisk again and pour into cake tins.
- Bake for 35-45 minutes until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Cool for 10 minutes and turn onto a wire rack upside down
Frosting (optional - not pictured)
Ingredients:
- ¾ cup unsalted butter
- 2 ½ cup icing sugar
- ½ cup cocoa powder
- ¼ cup oat milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Method:
- Beat butter until pale
- Add half the icing sugar and cocoa and beat for 3 minutes.
- Add remaining and beat again for 1 minute
- Add milk and vanilla and beat again for 1 minute
- Spread or pipe onto cake
